TRINITY SUNDAY
One of the central beliefs of our faith is the community of love we call the Trinity. The relationship of three divine persons in one Godhead can best be described as a mystery of our faith. You might think about how at one and the same time, you are a parent, a child, and a friend, in your own life. The mystery is how could you be so perfect a parent, child, and friend that you would be three distinct persons and yet one you! Greater minds than ours have pondered the Trinity without comprehending this great mystery.
Perhaps more significant for us is a prayerful meditation on the communal nature of the Trinity. Imagine that at the center of all creation there is a community of persons in love. The whole known and unknown universe in its vastness and in its smallness is the by-product of this Trinitarian love. We are not bio-chemical accidents in the universe. We are the children of a loving God, redeemed at a great price.
God, the Father, so loved the world that he gave his only Son... that the world might be saved through him. The Son, in turn, sent the Holy Spirit to be with the Church until the end of time. The Spirit empowers us to identify with the Son and to live in accordance with the Father’s will. The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit work in concert, and manifest one another in relationship to the creation, redemption, and sanctification of the world.
Let the Trinity then become the paradigm for all of our relationships. Whether at home, at work or school, with friends or neighbors, may we strive to imitate the authentic love of the Holy Trinity.
FATHER'S DAY BLESSING
Lord Jesus, our brother,we praise you for saving us. Teach us to love you and your Father by keeping your commandments.
Bless these fathers, and deepen their love for their wives and families. By their work and example and prayer, may they lead their children to follow you.
Lord Jesus, hear our prayer as we offer you gloryfor ever and ever. Amen!
