"The kingdom of heaven may be likened to a man who sowed good seed in his field... The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed sown which someone took and sowed in his field... The kingdom of heaven is like yeast which a woman took and kneaded into three measures of flour." What is the kingdom of heaven like? It is about a great power hidden in the everyday simple things of life. It is about little people who live inconspicuous lives of great cosmic importance. It is about you and me and the tremendous power we have to transform the world, if only we are single-hearted in the pursuit of God's will in our lives.
The kingdom of heaven begins in the most minute of ways. There is no big bang, not a thermonuclear reaction, or volcanic eruption. The kingdom of heaven starts in a single human heart that whispers, "Thy will, not mine, be done." It grows great when we abandon the question, what must I do, and embrace the question, what more can I do?
This simple principle of self-emptying love is fundamental to Jesus' teaching and should be central in the life of every Christian.
