This Sunday's readings describe the joy of the Kingdom of God. There will be a wonderful banquet with fine, choice foods. But Jesus tells us not all who were invited will attend. Many of those who do attend will be the ones no one expects. The people who live in the streets and the crossroads may accept the invitation instead of the well to do. In God's Kingdom wealth and influence are not important. What matters is our willingness to love and serve the Lord in one another, by becoming united with our brothers and sisters in charity.
We need the Holy Spirit to live this new life in God's Kingdom. The Spirit encourages us to arrange our priorities and to stand up for what we believe. The Spirit empowers us to bring Jesus' gospel to the whole world.
